IT'S THE REVIVAL OF GENERAL BEARING'S BENEFIT PROGRAM initiated many years ago. This Fall, five of our employees' children were awarded scholarships for the current college semester. The recipients were Bertha Hurtado, Kimberly Schupner, Lawrence Schupner, Joseph Paoli and Robert Stowell.
The plan is to make the awards annually to students, under age 25, whose parent has a minimum of two years service with GBC. Scholarships will range from several hundred to several thousand dollars, depending on the number of applicants, the quality of applications and the funds the company allocates in a given year.
To apply, applicants must submit current transcripts, either from high school or college, a résumé, two letters of recommendation, an essay and a copy of their birth certificate. The learning institution chosen must be an accredited college, university or trade school. We hope, in some small way, to ease the burden on our employees of the ever-burgeoning costs of educating our children in today's society.
